Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM; this is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2022 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

About the Position:
The Student Health and Counseling Center strives to support students in achieving their academic, professional, and personal goals. Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is crucial for living a higher quality life and reaching your highest potential. The Student Health and Counseling Center is seeking a Graphic Designer I. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind and is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general direction of the Associate Director for Health Services, the Graphic Designer provides artistic and graphic design for Student Wellness' publications, brochures, and websites including Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Services, and TitanWell Health Promotion Services. The Graphic Designer is an integral part of the Student Wellness Team and works with the Senior Communication and Design Specialist to coordinate, develop, and execute various graphic materials including print and digital promotions, on-site digital signage, and web and social media content. Provides website maintenance. Prepares layouts and produces material using print and multi media mediums. Makes recommendations and enriches all visual work related to the latest practices, technologies, and trends. Provides leadership and oversees the Graphic Design Student Assistants. Takes professional photos for Student Wellness marketing and website content. Provides professional graphic design, artistic, and creative skills while using foundational communication theory and marketing and promotion concepts. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field or the equivalent technical experience and/or relevant coursework. Foundational knowledge of the principles and techniques of artistic and graphic design, as well as demonstrated design and artistic skills. Possession of strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to utilize and remain current with applicable computer software packages and systems. Working knowledge of the principles of artistic and graphic design and illustration including the ability to design, layout, and prepare finished artwork to develop a visual products. Working knowledge of applicable graphic, design, and desktop publishing software packages, as well as the ability to effectively use them to create visual material. General knowledge of the principles of print design, typeface, color, layout, and production techniques. Working knowledge of the use of color, tone, shading, harmony, and perspective drawing. General knowledge of systems, techniques, and processes used in website design, photography, printmaking, and other applicable media. Demonstrated understanding of various communication vehicles and methods. Basic knowledge of copyright laws related to creative properties. Demonstrated ability to understand communication goals.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing healthcare and health promotion-focused graphics and communication. Experience creating communications targeting college populations. Familiar with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Tik Tok, and Twitter.
