ABOUT THE POSITION
The Long Beach Community College District is looking to hire one (1) full-time tenure track Theater Arts Instructor commencing with the 2020 fall semester. The primary teaching assignment involves instructing a variety of technical and design theatre courses and designing lights and sets for the Theatre Program's fall and spring semester play productions. The teaching assignment may be at our beautiful Liberal Arts campus, state of the art Pacific Coast campus or other college teaching locations. All candidates must demonstrate
Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Candidates must also meet one of the following qualifications under 1 - 4.
1. A Master's or Master of Fine Arts degree in drama/theater arts/ performance.
2. A Bachelor's or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama/theater arts/performance AND a Master's degree in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities.
3. Possess a valid California Community College instructor credential, specific to the discipline, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990).
4. Possess a combination of education and professional experience that is equivalent to the above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit a Supplemental Equivalency Application (Download PDF reader) in addition to all other required materials.
