Job Description
The Marketing Insights Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the strategic goals of the Digital Learning team at UT. The individual in this role will provide market research and insights on current and prospective students to support the Digital Learning team's marketing strategy and student experience efforts.

The individual in this role will work closely with the Director of Marketing Insights to lead and execute primary market research with current and prospective online students. Additionally, they will conduct secondary market research to identify market trends and opportunities for new and existing online degree programs for UT.

This position requires strong knowledge of best practices in conducting quantitative and qualitative marketing insights studies, as well as data analysis. Critical thinking skills are crucial to break down complex questions, determine the appropriate methodology, and extract meaningful insights from data collected. Collaboration is key in this role, as the individual will build relationships with stakeholders across Digital Learning and other campus units to understand their goals and deliver actionable insights for decision-making.


Responsibilities
Marketing Insights
  • Conduct secondary market research to identify opportunities and support growth of UT's online degree programs.
  • Use tools such as Lightcast and/or Gray DI to review third-party information sources such as IPEDS, National Student Clearinghouse, and BLS
  • Identify market demand, growth potential, competitive landscape, and target audience for current and potential programs in UT's online degree portfolio.
  • Develop market insights reports, using data visualization and storytelling to communicate findings to stakeholders within Digital Learning.
  • Identify key findings, areas of opportunity, and marketing strategy recommendations for programs.

Current & Prospective Student Insights
  • Using quantitative and qualitative methods, study behaviors and preferences along the steps of the online student journey - awareness, consideration, enrollment, and retention. Identify key drivers for online student enrollment and retention as well as recommendations for Digital Learning's marketing strategies.
  • Determine learning objectives and target audience criteria for studies
  • Design, build, and execute studies, analyzing data collected.
  • Communicate findings from studies through insights reports and presentations
  • Conduct Net Promoter Score (NPS) studies to measure online student experience among UT's online degree programs.
  • Design studies to align with learning objectives outlined by Digital Learning and academic units
  • Design, build, and execute studies, analyzing data collected.
  • Communicate findings from studies through reports, identifying actionable recommendations to enhance online student experience.

Brand Insights
  • Analyze the performance of UT's online degree program brand health through brand tracking surveys and other measures.
  • Assess brand awareness, perception, loyalty, and overall equity among the competitive landscape.
  • Identify key drivers of awareness and consideration of institutions for online degree programs.
  • Identify areas of growth opportunity

Relationship Development
  • Collaborate closely with the Marketing team and other units within Digital Learning. Develop a strong understanding of the online higher education landscape, as well as the marketing and student experience goals within Digital Learning, to support the team with relevant, meaningful insights.
  • Support the Digital Learning team with ad hoc insights projects as needed, including insights projects to gather feedback internally.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field

Experience:
  • 3 years experience in market research, customer insights, customer experience, or related field.
  • Experience conducting primary consumer research (quantitative and qualitative) and secondary market research.
  • Proven ability to lead insights projects and deliver meaningful, actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Master's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field

Experience:
  • 5 years experience in market research, customer insights, customer experience, or related field.
  • Experience leading projects.
  • Familiarity with higher education.

Work Location
  • Knoxville, TN. This position does have the potential for a hybrid working capacity.
