Salary Range
Associate Professor/Professor
$92,763 - $128,133
Internal Candidates' salary will be based on Union-negotiated calculations.
As Director of the Institute, faculty member will receive a stipend for summer work.
US work authorization is required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US. Ramapo College currently has a no-sponsorship policy.
Position Overview
Ramapo College of New Jersey (RCNJ), a public liberal arts institution, invites applications for a visionary and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the inaugural Director of the Digital Innovation Institute (DII). The DII will be a dynamic hub for technology-driven research, pedagogy, and community engagement at RCNJ. The DII will serve as a catalyst for integrating emerging digital and artificial intelligence (AI) tools into the liberal arts curriculum and faculty scholarship, ensuring our students and faculty are at the forefront of a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The position for the Institute will be a connector for interdisciplinary collaboration, securing external funding, and building strategic partnerships with local and national organizations.
The Director will hold a tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment in a discipline represented in the College and will be responsible for providing academic and administrative leadership for the institute's mission. This position is a full-time, 10-month appointment, with a reduced teaching load to accommodate administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship and a passion for integrating technology into the liberal arts
Examples of Duties
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the long-term vision for the DII, aligning its goals with the college's strategic plan.
- Program Management: Oversee all DII initiatives, including faculty workshops, grant programs, and research projects.
- Financial Stewardship: Manage the institute's budget, responsible for fundraising efforts, and actively pursue external grants and funding opportunities.
- Faculty Engagement: Work directly with faculty across all divisions to identify and support their digital needs and aspirations.
- External Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with corporate partners, foundations, and community organizations.
- Teaching & Scholarship: Maintain an active research agenda and teach a reduced course load (one course per semester) within their home department.
Organizational Security Responsibilities: This position requires adherence to the organization's information security policies and procedures. All employees share responsibility for protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's mission essential IT assets, regardless of role. Individuals in this role are expected to apply appropriate safeguards, participate in required security awareness training, and promptly report potential security incidents in accordance with institutional policies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree.
- A distinguished record of teaching and scholarly achievement commensurate with appointment as a tenured or tenure-track faculty member.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or administrative role within an academic or professional setting.
- Proven success in securing external funding from grants, foundations, or other sources.
- Expertise in at least one area of digital or AI technology relevant to the liberal arts (e.g., data science, AI ethics, digital media, computational methods).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
