Job Duties:
The Graphic Design & Video Production specialist is a production-oriented role that supports Athens State Universitys marketing and communications initiatives through graphic design, videography, and multimedia content creation. The ideal candidate will be skilled in producing compelling visual assets-from short-form social videos to print layouts-and will play a key role in strengthening the Universitys brand presence across digital and traditional platforms. The candidate should have the ability to carry out the vision of others, an encouraging visual portfolio, a strong creative vision, and a "whatever it takes" mentality.

Essential Functions:
  • Plan, design, and produce visually engaging content for print, web, social media, and digital campaigns.
  • Lead all aspects of video production, including concept development, script copywriting, filming, lighting, audio, and production scheduling.
  • Edit raw footage into polished final videos optimized for various platforms (web, social media, advertising, presentations, etc.).
  • Develop branding-aligned graphics such as brochures, posters, digital ads, motion graphics, event materials, and campus signage.
  • Collaborate with internal partners-including Enrollment, Advancement, and Academics-to translate project goals into compelling visual communication.
  • Maintain consistent visual brand identity across all media and ensure adherence to brand standards.
  • Manage multimedia assets, media libraries, templates, and file organization for ongoing use.
  • Assist with creative strategy and contribute to brainstorming and campaign development.
  • Stay current on design trends, video technology, and emerging creative tools to improve output and efficiency.
  • Assist as the in-house photographer, visually documenting all University events and important news to incorporate within various communications outlets; process photos/videos to meet project goals.
  • Work with the Universitys Office of Printing Services to assist with the creation and production of appropriate promotional print materials.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the University by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need.


Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Film/Video Production, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in professional graphic design and video production/editing (portfolio required)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) or similar programs

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic use of office equipment
  • Strong photography and videography skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; teamwork mentality
  • Ability to work with a variety of constituents, including outside vendors
  • Ability to oversee and manage numerous projects and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent proofreader and careful attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible hours - because the responsibilities of this position may require attendance at various events and meetings, the daily schedule may vary and include nights and weekends

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • 75% of time spent sitting and/or standing
  • May occasionally need to spend time in low postures such as crouching or kneeling
  • Occasionally tasked with moving from one worksite to another
  • Must be able to occasionally adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions
  • Frequently requires communication with others to exchange information
  • Frequently tasked with repeating motions that may include wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Frequently uses near vision for tasks involving computers, reading small print, etc. Frequently uses far vision for the ability to see a person or object
  • May occasionally work outdoors for campus events
  • Occasionally tasked with working after hours, including nights and weekends


Salary Schedule:
Salary Band: P600
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.
