We are looking for a person with a creative fire and technical acumen to help us lead our animation program into the forefront of the industry! Assistant Educator of Animation, full-time, non-tenure eligible. Teach courses associated with Animation program in the School of Digital Arts; create effective learning activities, projects, and assignments. Serve as Animation Program Director; develop and update curriculum relevant to current industry standards; assist with identifying appropriate, qualified adjunct instructors. Engage in departmental, college, and university service associated with WSU faculty promotion policies. Opportunities may include teaching in other areas of expertise depending upon department/program needs.


Required: Bachelor's degree in Animation or related field, or equivalent professional experience by hire date; experience developing Animation projects; proficiency in 3D digital software/s; continuing/ongoing connection/commitment to the Animation industry; excellent organizational and analytical skills; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to build and sustain collaborative professional relationships with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, students, and community/industry members; willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.


Preferred: Interest in and ability to recruit, advise and mentor students; ability to promote students' professional development; proficiency/experience with modeling software Maya and/or Blender; proficiency/experience with 3DS Max software; proficiency/experience with Cinema 4D software; proficiency/experience with Houdini software; proficiency/experience with ZBrush software; demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level.


Start date: August 6, 2023. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
