A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor is available in the Department of Art & Design in the College of Arts & Sciences. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Graphic Design who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining active undergraduate programs. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2021/2022 academic year on August23, 2021.

Master of Arts, Master of Science, or Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design or a related field by August 23, 2021 is required. ABD applicants will be considered but must complete the terminal degree by March 20, 2022. We seek candidates with expertise in web design. Candidates must have expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as HTML and CSS. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to teach required and elective design courses at all undergraduate levels.

We consider the following assets: expertise in Graphic Design print media; demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness; experience with UX Design; experience with 2D and 3D motion graphics; experience in the graphic design profession or related field; and experience or interest in the development of innovative curriculum and advising for Graphic Design undergraduate programs.

Teach Graphic Design courses at all levels in the Department of Art & Design based on program needs and in accordance with specialization; participate in research and creative or scholarly activities; provide academic advising to students as assigned; engage in service to the department, university, and profession.

The Department of Art & Design consists of fifteen faculty and instructional staff. There are approximately 220 majors and 80 minors. It offers the following programs: Bachelor of Fine Arts, BA/BS in Studio Art and Graphic Communications, and Liberal Arts BA/BS in Studio Art. The department offers minors in studio art and art history. Graphic Design courses are part of the interdisciplinary Multimedia Communication minor.
