  • Position Summary:
    Join the sophisticated creative team that leads UAF's brand and design projects. Design digital ads, online magazine articles, student recruitment materials, environmental graphics for campus spaces and much more.

    Duties:
    Design production, print preparation and archive Develop sophisticated publications, promotional and marketing materials using independent creativity and in consultation with lead designer: generate ideas and develop creative concepts for effective, professional print publications and presentations. Aggressively pursue awareness of design trends and styles, continually building a resource file of ideas obtained through publications and web searches. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Keep abreast of new ideas and strategies in digital design and production. As part of the UAF brand evolution, push boundaries on special projects and initiatives while remaining consistent with UAF objectives. Prepare computer files for print production. Troubleshoot hardware/software errors and cross- platform conflicts, and ensure accurate color from workstation to printing press. Research emerging design-related technology. Resolve technical design, software, hardware, output and printing problems. Monitor and adhere to production schedules; ensure print quality and delivered jobs. Maintain advanced working knowledge of design platforms to include Macintosh-based Adobe Creative Cloud products. Assist with trademark reviews; provide backup as needed. Assist with creating presentations using Google slides and/or Powerpoint. Storage and accessibility, archiving projects: Maintain digital archives of projects on shared drive. Maintain workstation files for easy access by other members of the creative team. Relay original scans of photos, including their digitally enhanced versions, to the photo archive system for processing.Essential
    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
    • Graphic design and advanced computer graphics, color theory, high-level imaginative skills.
    • Verbal communication and listening skills.
    • Training/skills using industry-standard desktop publishing software including Adobe Creative Cloud products, Microsoft Office and Google applications. Working knowledge of html, xml, CSS, XSLT.

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
    • Advanced graphic design software skills within a Macintosh environment, including Adobe Creative Cloud.
    • Comprehensive working knowledge of graphic design, web design, multimedia principles and marketing.
    • Working knowledge of video production and Final Cut Pro preferred.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
    • Degree in design (or related field) and a minimum two years of experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Professional training and work experience in graphic design and production is required.
    • Advanced training in art, illustration preferred.

    Position details:
