Detailed Job Description
The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences invites applicants to apply for a Non-Tenure Track Visiting position for the James E. McGhee Endowed Visiting Professor. This endowed position is a 2-3 year position with the option to renew and includes access to funds to support student success, industry partnerships, and student/faculty applied research.

The successful candidate will teach courses over the academic year that includes undergraduate and, potentially, graduate-level courses in photography, combined with design and moving media. The ideal candidate will contribute to the intersection of commercial photography and business for the school within the Visual Media BFA degree option and have a broad background in creative directing, branding, social media/content management, and/or graphic design. The successful candidate will be nimble, technologically savvy, and forward-thinking on the future of photography.

The ideal candidate will contribute to the interdisciplinary vibrancy of the Visual Media option in the BFA in Photographic Imaging Arts, in addition to augmenting the students and curriculum within the broader School of Photographic Arts and Sciences and the College of Art and Design in which this position is housed. Fluency with foundations of video is preferred.

THE DEPARTMENT: The School of Photographic Arts and Sciences (SPAS) is internationally recognized for its professional study of photographic practices in a wide array of related disciplines, including advertising and fine art photography, photojournalism, visual media, photographic sciences, and media technologies. THE COLLEGE: RIT's College of Art and Design is the university's creative hub where art, design, science, and technology intersect in our 200,000+ sq. ft. facility. Required Minimum Qualifications
  • An MFA (or industry equivalent) in photography or related areas of study
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience in higher education/industry
  • Record of photographic industry experience
  • Demonstrated background in photography, with an additional background in photographic branding/marketing, project management, moving media, social media, and/or graphic design
  • Facility with photographic and moving media tools and software, including proficiency with appropriate programs like Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.
  • Ability to assist students in developing their professional skills to prepare them for industry success
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the Colleges continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
