Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of technical and specialized duties in the preparation, operation, and maintenance of the art studios. Operate and repair equipment in the sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting, and digital studios. Maintain and monitor the sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting, and digital studios, including inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment. Oversee health and safety in the sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting, and digital studios. Prepare studios for instruction, and provide specialized technical support to the full-time and part-time art faculty, and students.

Confer with art faculty and admin regarding laboratory requirements

Maintain, repair, and monitor the use of equipment and materials in the sculpture, printmaking, drawing, painting, and digital studios

Able to construct various support devices such as shelving and jigs as needed

Maintain secure, healthy, and safe environment in the art studios

Maintain and update safety procedures in art studios

Maintain cleanliness and organization of art studios

Responsible for inventory and ordering of materials for art studios, including local pick-up as needed

Organize and distribute tools and materials in art studios

Work with the Facilities, Health and Safety, and Engineering departments to solve problems in the art studios

Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Monitor open studio times

Train and supervise student workers

Additional Responsibilities
Other lab duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education

Associate's degree in Art or a related area required.
Bachelor's Degree in Art or a related area preferred.

Experience
- One to two (1-2) years related experience in an art studio environment or equivalent required.
- One to two (1-2) years related experience in a sculpture studio, digital fabrication lab, or equivalent preferred

Working Conditions:
Includes lifting of heavy objects, 50-75lbs, ladder climbing, and working with hazardous materials and equipment, including various saws, sanders, drill presses, lathes, jointers, planers, levels, squares, bevels, hammers, files, rasps, vise grips, presses, pliers, chisels, shovels, clamps, glue gun, routers, grinders, shaft machines, compressors, sand blasters, welders (MIG, TIG, Gas, Stick), cutters, shears, plasma cutter, adhesives, and solvents. Physically demanding job.

Pay Grade:
Classified 11 Hourly
