Open Rank in Art and Coordinator of the Art Gallery

Penn State Berks, a college of the Pennsylvania State University near Reading, Pennsylvania, invites nominates and applications to an open rank, limited term (single year), non-tenure line faculty position beginning on January 3, 2022. This is an open rank non-tenure line, 36-week appointment with an excellent possibility of re-funding.

We seek a talented and committed teacher with strong undergraduate teaching abilities who will teach two sections of general art courses per semester (i.e., painting and drawing) and coordinate the Freyberger Art Gallery. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the campus art collection, for conducting outreach to the local community and establishing relations with various arts communities locally and nationally. The coordinator organizes exhibitions in our Freyberger Gallery on campus, collaborates with the Development Office to use endowment funding, and with Maintenance and Operations to maintain sculptures and paintings inside and outside our buildings.

This position will be filled at either a level of Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor. The requirement for the rank of Instructor include a Master's degree (MFA preferred) in a related field. The requirements for the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor is a terminal degree in a related field. Experience teaching art courses and managing the daily operations of an art gallery is preferred.
