Job Description

Description:

The Web Designer, under direction, creates and implements a variety of online solutions including site programming, graphical imagery, responsive content layout and an overall superior user experience. Maintenance duties would also include workflow management. In addition to managing workflows, provide support throughout the campus community as it related to web accessibility, content best practices, quality control and overall brand guidance.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, create, format and produce high-quality, original web-based designs under the guidance of the Web Services Manager.
  • Collaborate with on-campus clients and web developers to maintain a consistent user experience.
  • Support implementation of our web content strategy to meet business goals by maximizing the impact and consistency of our web content.
  • Assist in managing workflow work orders throughout the day to help manage and maintain brand consistency for our web presence.
  • Collaborate with staff for website content and determine needs and assess priorities.
  • Maintain/update site metadata to optimize SEO efforts as it relates to current search trends.
  • Perform ADA compliance checks on a weekly basis across university web presence using SiteImprove's report suite to include documenting issues, establishing a maintenance schedule, applying fixes and communicating to all affected sites within the university web presence.
  • Provide training for staff and faculty as needed to maintain our web identity and quality control.
  • Provide additional IT related support within the department which includes new employee setup, diagnose computer/peripherals, software support and other equipment management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Additional experience may be considered as a substitution for the education requirement to include:
    • High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience.
    • Associate's Degree and two (2) years of related experience.
  • Experience in web design and development experience.
  • Experience with Bootstrap framework, PHP, HTML5, CSS and CMS programming language, Velocity.
  • Knowledge of Cascade Content Management System (CMS).
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe CC suite, most importantly, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some travel may be required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of professional web design and development experience.
  • Experience in IT support.
  • Experience in management.
