Position Summary:
The Digital Designer & Event Assistant will work closely with College of Letters, Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Marketing and Communication Specialist and the Data Analyst and Web Manager. Responsibilities include communication and outreach efforts, web design and maintenance, promotional and graphic design work for over 20 departments and special programs. They will also assist with strategic initiatives and programs to help build a collective identity for faculty, staff and students who are a part of the College. This position may also support College day-to-day activities. #LI-DNI
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and create marketing and promotional materials for CLAS including posters, flyers, invitations, brochures, and other digital media
- Provides support and guidance on communication strategies to include formatting, brand standards, and timing of messages
- Audits and updates website content on a regular basis for over 20 departments and special programs
- Help plan college wide events and initiatives (e.g., Faculty and Staff events, Student events including securing event space, catering needs, developing swag and placing orders with vendors, day-of-event logistics, and providing general event support
- Assist the CLAS support staff in various capacities including administrative tasks, front desk support, and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Working toward a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Communication Design or related field at MSU Denver
- Minimum 3.0 GPA required
- Graphic design experience, editing or creating digital and print media using software programs such as Adobe Suite and Microsoft Suite, Canva
- Experience with the creation of promotional and/or marketing materials
- Proficient in web design, editing and management and experience using platforms including WordPress
- Experience with planning events, programs and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to students with Sophomore-Junior class standing and students who can make an employment commitment of one-year
- Must be reliable, possess strong interpersonal skills, can work collaboratively on a team, proven customer service skills, be friendly and approachable, strong work ethic and be detail oriented
- Must take initiative, be open to constructive feedback, have ability to remain flexible and work with multiple deadlines, build and maintain relationships with colleagues that supports a cooperative work environment
- Experience providing excellent professional and courteous customer service to faculty, staff and students
